Why Vitamins and Minerals are Necessary for Optimum Health
By: J.Morgan
You may have already heard about how certain vitamins and minerals are required for a healthy life. Your body depends on these necessary elements to function properly and to grow and maintain proper function. There are certain minerals that the body produces naturally and there are others that we must get from the foods we eat. When you do not get the vitamins and minerals that you need from the foods you eat, you may need to supplement with your diet with vitamins or other supplements to give you the proper daily allowance.
Water soluble vitamins are not stored in the body and they will want to be consumed on a daily basis. If you do not get these from the foods which you eat then you may want to get them from supplements or vitamins of some type. What are some important vitamins and minerals that the body requires on a daily basis?
Thiamine- Vitamin B1
Riboflavin- Vitamin B2
Niacin- Vitamin B3
Pantothenic Acid- Vitamin B5
Vitamin B6
Vitamin B12
Biotin
Folic Acid
Vitamin C
However, not all vitamins work in this way. Some do not have to be taken every day. These are fat-soluble vitamins which are held in the body and do not need to be consumed daily:
Vitamin A- Retinol
Beta Carotene
Vitamin D
Vitamin E
Vitamin K
There are also certain minerals that the body will require to function as we mentioned before. These comprise:
Calcium
Phosphorous
Magnesium
Potassium
Iron
Zinc
Selenium
Copper
Manganese
When your body has the right balance of these much needed vitamins and minerals you will be healthier and feel better on a daily basis. Your skin will glow and your hair will shine. You will be healthy from the inside out. It is very important to remember when taking supplements to reach your dietary recommended allowance that just because these vitamins and minerals occur naturally does not mean you cannot overdose on them. In fact, overdoses from natural supplements are actually quite common. So it s important to be sure you learn as much as possible about the supplements you are taking and how much you should take.
The more you learn about vitamins and how they can impact your life, the better equipped you will be for choosing the right ones for your needs. Remember that just because something is a vitamin or a natural supplement does not mean it is healthy to take or to use as much as you would like. Always be intelligent and safe with your supplements.
